From Dynamic DNA intern to Junior Test Analyst at Dynamic Technologies’ group company Inspired Testing, Fulufhelo Nemavhandu is proof that dreams do come true – as long as you’re willing to work for them.
As a junior test analyst specialising in mobile testing for a short-term insurance provider, Fulufhelo’s role revolves around ensuring the quality and reliability of the company’s mobile application. She focuses on testing the app on various mobile platforms (iOS and Android) to guarantee that it meets the required standards and delivers a seamless user experience. She says, “My primary duty is to conduct thorough testing of the mobile app, focusing on both iOS and Android platforms. I use Azure DevOps to create and track work items related to testing activities and mobile devices.”
Her position at Inspired Testing was no accident, but rather came about thanks to her decision to apply to Inspired Testing’s sister company Dynamic DNA for a three-month programme to obtain the Microsoft Azure AZ900 certification. She explains, “This certification was essential for my career aspirations in cloud computing and technology.” After successfully passing the AZ900 certification, she was given the opportunity to boost her technical skills in the field. A few months later, Dynamic DNA offered her a System Development Level 5 learnership. Fulufhelo says, “Recognising the potential for personal and professional growth, I eagerly accepted the offer, and that's where my journey with Dynamic DNA and Inspired Testing began.”
After completing the learnership Fulufhelo entered the Inspired Testing’s Internship Programme, which helped her build a diverse skill set, improve her technical proficiency, and provided a solid foundation in those soft skills that are essential to success in any business environment. The programme is intensive and comprehensive. It is not an easy path, by any means, but with determination and dedication, it provides an excellent platform to start building a successful career. One of the most important aspects of the internship programme is that of mentorship. Inspired Testing’s Training Manager Louise Gilbert excels in that role. Fulufhelo says, “Louise recognized my enthusiasm for learning and understanding the importance of effective communication. To help me improve my vocabulary, she generously lent me storybooks and encouraged me to read regularly. She emphasised that reading not only enhances one’s language skills but also broadens one’s perspective and critical thinking abilities.”
Fulufhelo is not one to rest on her laurels. She aims to continue learning, adding new technical skills and proficiencies to her repertoire. Her current goal is to master Testing Fundamentals and pursue relevant certifications like ISTQB-CTAL. She also wants to learn test automation tools, scripting languages, and version control systems to become proficient in automated testing. She says, “I’m interested in taking on leadership roles within the testing team as my experience grows.”
She is driven by a need to keep learning and developing personally as well as professionally and was motivated to take the steps necessary to further her career by the desire for financial security and stability. She says, “I am inspired by the people around me who are doing well and by Stories of people overcoming obstacles and succeeding against all odds; their determination and creativity inspire me to go beyond my comfort zone.” An all-rounder who understands the value of a healthy work-life balance, Fulufhelo also enjoys baking, watching reality shows, sharing a good joke with friends, and spending time with her family.
Her advice to those seeking to follow in her footsteps is to maintain a professional and positive attitude, even when facing challenges. She knows that hard work and dedication will stand a person in good stead, and she says, “Keep in mind that internships are a great way to get experience and abilities that will help you in your future job, take full advantage of the chance and use it to build a strong foundation for your professional journey.”
