UK Law Firm Prepares For The Future With Elite 3E Upgrade

UK Law firm prepares for the future with Elite 3E upgrade

Project Summary

The client required an experienced testing partner that understands the complex nature of a legal organisation’s specialised requirements, including the known problem areas commonly found in complex legal software implementations. They needed a flexible, expert approach to performance testing that performs to specified non-functional requirements, as well as guidance on performance strategies that align directly with Elite 3E, based on proven experience and skills.

Performance testing is essential to prevent any bottlenecks that will affect wait time and impact user satisfaction. It simulates real-world scenarios to ensure critical systems are ready for massive spikes in traffic volume. These performance factors include response time, throughput, resource utilisation, maximum user load, and behaviour under stress.

Inspired Testing created and performed a series of performance and load tests on the 3E application to verify that it can scale to support the required number of concurrent users without negatively affecting the aforementioned performance factors.

Client Overview

The client is a London-based law firm with more than 50 partners and more than 200 other fee-earners. It specialises in domestic and international matters, including business law and private wealth, real estate, employment and immigration, and dispute resolution.

Problem statement

The client needed non-functional performance testing of their upgraded Elite 3E implementation to ensure no bottlenecks or subsequent negative user interaction occurred post-upgrade. It upgraded from Thomson Reuters Elite 3E 2.8 to Elite 3E 3.0.

Solution

A non-functional performance testing strategy that allows the client to release an updated Elite 3E platform that performs to specified requirements. This includes guidance based on Inspired Testing’s specialisation in Thomson Reuters Elite 3E and the establishment of best practices in relation to performance testing.

The performance testing strategy included two types of tests to simulate performance during day-to-day and year-end volumes, namely load and stress testing.

Before improvement

The client needed a specialist in Thomson Reuters Elite 3E QA to provide a flexible yet structured approach to performance testing of its upgrade of Elite 3E 2.8 to 3.0.

After improvement

The client had confirmation that the new Elite 3E implementation can handle up to 500 concurrent users while maintaining a positive user experience with no issues with stability or responsiveness in the system.

Benefit to the client after implementation

The client now has the confidence that their upgraded implementation of Thomson Reuters Elite 3E will provide an acceptable user experience to all users under normal day-to-day conditions as well as during end-year peak times.
